Sea World

We went to Sea World yesterday. I will blog in detail later.
We didn't get to see shows, but we did go on the sky cables, see the Star Fish, go on rides, and eat with Elmo.

Interesting facts about Star Fish:

Star Fish can survive for 5 days without water. They do not breath with gills, but rather, they absorb water, which keeps them alive for 5 days or so, before they dehydrate.

They do not do anything, except eat. If they lose an arm, another will grow in it's place. Another starfish can actually grow from that one missing arm, thus, they regenerate themselves.

Star fish do not actually serve any purpose, other than being beautiful to look at. I think sometimes God creates tiny gifts for us to enjoy and just appreciate. Humans can EAT star fish, although I don't think I ever would. According to the link, they taste like a sea urchin.
Hmmm..

Throw up, rescues, missing person reports, pajamas, home invasions, and pictures later.

Children in Pain.

This is what bothers me so much--parents doing exactly what they want, regardless of what it does to their kids.

The sad thing is, our decisions are irreversible and we can't undo the damage later in life.

For Heather, Passions Finale, Part 1

Heather was addicted to Passions. It was really ridiculous and a silly soap opera. It went off the air recently and Heather wasn't able to see the finale because I lowered my Directv subscriptions and didn't get the channel for the final month. She was really sad about it.

This is for you Heather. And here and now, on this blog, I will admit it...I couldn't wait to see if Ethan and Teresa would finally get together! LOL

for Heather, Passions Finale, Part 2

for Heather, Part 3

Will it really happen?

for Heather, Part 4

Almost there

for Heather, Passions part 5

FINALLY!!!

Musical Road in Lancaster, Ca

This is the Musical Road in Lancaster, CA. It was built for a commerical and is actually pretty fun.

Me, Mary, Desiree and Katie drove out to try it. They are closing it down on the 24th, which is kind of sad, because it was really pretty neat.

The video is not us. I found it on youtube. We forgot our cameras.

Christopher Robin

I can't wait for the cold weather again. It's coming soon! I can't wait to take Katie to the snow this year. David will be big enough to really enjoy it.

This video is from last year. David had a blast, but was sick for days after.

Katie barking, or at least trying to.

Katie is learning what dogs are now. She always tries to bark like one. It's more like she blows out air, but she tries.

Today she heard a neighborhood dog barking and it got her excited. She started barking.

Tonight was also her first time attempting to color. I got her some crayons and let her draw but she wasn't too interested. Next time I'll have to get her markers. She wasn't able to push the crayon in hard enough to make a color.

Tonight, she said, "where" and put her hands out to say "where", like I always do with her. She also said "Hannah". She's starting to say a lot of words now, besides just the barking. LOL

Thursday Night with Katie

I got to babysit Katie tonight. She was such a good girl. I gave her a bath and then let her eat. I'm trying to allow her to eat on her own so she can learn to use a spoon and feel more independent. I gave her yogurt, fishies, and an apple juice box. She did pretty good with the spoon, but after a while, she figured out her hands were quicker. She's getting the hang of it.
She figured out how to put her spoon in and pull out a scoop.

She also figured out her hand could work as a shovel and began to dig in.
I gave her the spoon back and told her to be more dignified. She said she would try.
For some reason, she couldn't take her eyes off the Dr. Phil show that was playing across the room.
Still watching Dr. Phil, and still eating her yogurt.
Afterwards, she played on her zebra that I got from a yard sale for $2. She wanted to give Drowsy II a ride on it (I got her a substitute Drowsy from a yard sale last week for 50 cents so she has one for my house and one for her house. I don't know if she realizes it or not).

She got Drowsy Part II on the zebra, careful not to let her fall off.
And she stood back to watch her. Katie is amazed at how Talented DPII is. She always looks amazed at all the funny ways grandma poses her.
She decided she couldn't let DPII have all the fun, so she climbed on with her. Her hair is combed funny in these pictures because she had just gotten out of the bath and I combed it down. I guess I should have fed her first and then gave her a bath.
Oh well, we had a fun night together. I packed her a little breakfast to take with her for the morning.
She ate apple sticks, cut like french fries with the skin peeled off. They were Granny Smith and sour so she made a hilarious face when she first bit into it, but then she really liked them. She ate about 5 pieces.
Katie also learned to say "more" in sign language and I am teaching her "milk" and "cookie". Tonight, she saw a picture of Hannah and David and she said, "Hannah". I was shocked that she could say that! I didn't even say it to her first.

1st Time Ever

Katie is going to Disneyland tomorrow with Desiree. It's her 1st time ever, going somewhere for the whole day without her mommy. Heather is nervous, but so am I! LOL. She's not even my baby. I know she'll be fine, but I'm going to miss that little rascal.

Crestline

We went to Crestline today. I'd like to say it was as relaxing and serene as the pictures below. I'd like to say that we marveled at the beauty of the trees and had a picnic as the cool breeze blew around us.
I'd like to say we rented a boat and floated along the lake with a little wind up radio from Land's End.
I'd like to, but that would be a lie.
Afterall, we took the beasts with us: Katie, David, and Eddie Bauer.

Mary got an Eddie Bauer double stroller from a yard sale for $5. She thought it would be perfect to take David and Katie around in. Perfect for hiking. Well, Eddie weighed 20 lbs. all by himself. After David's 35 lbs., Katie's 25 lbs., and Eddie's 20 lbs., that was 80 lbs. that had to be pushed up hill. Mary did all the pushing. I don't really know how. David did all the whining. From the time we got out of the car until we got back home, he whined. He was hungry. He was thrirsty. He wanted to walk. He wanted to get wet from the sprinkler. Katie kept wanting to get out and be held. David had a peanut butter & jelly sandwich, gatorade, yogurt, Special K bar, and an apple, and yet, he was "starving". We found an apple tree along the way and Mary picked one off for David to eat. According to Mary it was the sweetest apple she'd ever had. All the while, Mary was looking for aluminum cans to add to her collection. She carried an enormous plastic bag while pushing the kids, that filled with air as she walked and looked like an oxygen tank following behind her. I'm sure she was wishing for an oxygen tank. She found a large Heineken aluminum keg. I mean, it was a gallon if not 2. For all her efforts of hauling that along with other bottles and cans, she took in probably a whopping 75 cents. For this 75 cents she had to carry the 4 lbs. of cans, and have the keg roll around and rub her shins and get stuck in between her legs, all while pushing Eddie.
We got up at 6:00 a.m. for this. We were supposed to be on the road at 7:00 a.m. At 7:45 we were just leaving.
On the way home, Katie threw up. She got car sick. The car stunk like throw up. Heather thought she smelled a dirty diaper. :/ We stopped at McDonald's for a soft serve ice cream. David, still famished from being pushed in his 20 lb. stroller for 4 miles, got an ice cream, ate it all, then asked everyone else for their leftovers. Is there something in the mountain air that turns little boys into lumberjacks?
Katie fell asleep as soon as she got home. What a long day!
