San Francisco-Alcatraz Trip

For Christmas, Mary gave me tickets for Alcatraz and a San Francisco City tour. Me, Desiree, Mary and Blake went for the weekend.

On the last day we went to Dennis the Menace Park in Monterey. Some of my pictures got out of order. Below is a cool maze for the kids. Mary and Blake went in itMary at Fisherman's Wharf Mary and I at Pier 39 At the top of Twin Peaks, formerly named by the Indians Los Pechos de la Choca (The breasts of the Indian girl) Blake, waiting for our tour bus

The old Del Monte Cannery at San Francisco's Fisherman's WharfThe trolley at Hyde & Powell. This was $5 up and $5 back. We have to save up for it to ride it next time.
This is the yard at Alcatraz, where the inmates would go outside to play handball, baseball, or other sports. Notice the beautiful rainbow behind the walls.

When Alcatraz was open, Police families actually lived on the island and sent their children to the school on the island. They had a social hall and would play games, have parties and dances, and bowl. I believe the building below is a gutted out warehouse.
Alcatraz from the boat. It is 1 1/4 miles from the shore to Alcatraz. It was rainy when we went, so the view is cloudy

Knott's Merry Christmas 2009

On New Years Day we went to Knott's Berry Farm. We didn't get there til' about noon and then had to get in line for our season passes. I wasn't sure how the lines would be because I've never been on New Years' Day. They were really light, actually, and the park was not crowded at all. We were able to get on everything within 10 minutes time.
As we left the park, we walked around by Independence Hall. One day I'm going to actually go inside and have a look to see what they have there. I love history and I would probably really enjoy it--without kids. The grounds were very nice. They had a lake and beautiful trees and lots of roosters and hens running around. I didn't realize that chickens could fly so high and the trees all had groups of birds inside them. Katie had fun chasing them around and loved when one would actually cock-a-doodle-doo.

Afterwards, we went to Downtown Disney to look around. It was a really relaxing and nice day.

In the parking lot
The sunset was so beautiful
She was finally big enough for the huff and puff
Katie, trying to catch the "rain" from the center of the Knott's sign
Katie in the bouncer. She was next to the last one out on this because she wouldn't come out.
I finally got to go on the Stagecoach. Katie loved it

On the airplanes. She got stuck on it at the end when she didn't know how to bring the plane down
Katie was jumping up and down excitedly. I love all the bounce in her hair.

Christmas 2009

This Christmas was a sad Christmas for me. I had a lot of fun watching the kids open their presents and things, but Anthony and his kids weren't there, and my mom refused to come too. Blake was 2 hours late because he spent the night at Kevin's and didn't get up in the morning.
