Today I went to Pelona Vista with the girls. They walked and I stayed with Katie, walking around, hunting lady bugs, squirrels and rocks. The rocks were by far the easiest prey, but there were also quite a few lady bugs to be squished. Katie was careful though and I didn't let her do her George impersonation and hug em' and squeeze em' and love em' for her very own.
Lady bugs were actually popping into her hair, there were so many around.
At one point, she hit me by accident. She said, clear as day, "I'm sorry". It sounded more like Sour-ey, but nonetheless, it was the first time she's ever said sorry to me. Her vocabulary is really increasing in this past month. She's talking a lot more and putting words together into sentences.
Later, I picked 3 flowers for her. I told her, "one is for you, one is for mama and one is for ReyRey (Desiree)". She looked at them carefully, studied them, smelled them, and then put one in her left hand for her, and put the other two in her right hand for Heather and Desiree. I do believe she counted, calculated, considered, and made a mathematical decision, by golly! LOL
The kids are growing up so fast. It's just amazing to me. They are so smart. Not just our kids, but all kids. It amazes me how such a tiny little person knows so much. Because they don't have the words, we forget how much they really understand. I guess, back in the day, when they referred to "deaf and dumb", it was the same idea. The deaf weren't dumb, it's just that hearing people had no idea how much they understood because we couldn't understand them.
