David has been waiting all summer to get on the waterslides at Drytown. You have to be 48" to get on them. David is 46". Every time we go he stares at them and asks to go on them. Today, since all the kids are back in school, it was really empty so we thought we'd get him on.
We took him to the slides and measured him. He was about 2" too short. We thought we'd try anyway, but got stopped by the life guard on duty. He made David stand next to the pole again to measure him. He was too short. David's face dropped. My mom told the life guard, "come on..give him a break. He just wants to go on one time". The life guard said, "ONE TIME" and let us take him. David was so excited. He chose the red one.
I went down with him on a 2 man raft. He was yelling inside and laughing and saying, "this is FUN!". When we landed at the bottom, he splashed up and was smiling from ear to ear. Next year he should be plenty big enough to get on them.
Katie, in the meantime, isn't a fan of getting water in her eyes. We took her to the play area and she wouldn't play in the water much. After a while, she started getting used to it and having a good time. She likes the river best.
